This is a lounge chair from the Italian manufacturer Calia Italia.

The cozy Gerrit is a modern interpretation of the classic reading armchair, which is at the same time unique. The interior of the armchair is decorated with quilting-like craftsmanship, which continues on the armchair, in line with the seat. This trapezoidal seat fits perfectly with the geometry of the armchair. This armchair and stool comes in a fixed version with metal legs or a swivel version that rests on a spoked base – perfect for business/office use. In both fixed and swivel versions, the Gerrit can be fitted with regenerated leather armrests. All components (legs, spokes and armrests) are available in a variety of finishes and/or colors and can be combined with your chosen upholstery to create individual combinations.

Liborio Vincenzo Calia, Calia Italia’s founder, was born in 1926. He started attending an artisan workshop when he was very young. There he learnt how to make carpentry works, realizing different types of objects made of wood, from useful tools to works of outstanding workmanship to decorate any house.In 1944, when he was only 18, he started his own business and in 1965 he started a research project that would end up in designing and producing a single kind of products, conceived to make people feel good: upholstered furniture.Since then, Calia Italia has been manufacturing sofas with an accessible, democratic design with care and attention to details in Matera to reach any place in the world.
